Day 68: Big Deal

Aha:
Clinton got a great deal on kijiji today: kitchen table, four chairs, a coffee table and delivery for $80! Our home is slowly but surely coming together. Hey, before too long I'll feel like it's cute enough in here to post pics! Ha!

Haha:
I don't know why this was so funny to me, but Peter wanted some water tonight and was extremely insistent about it. He scratched his bowl once, cried for a second and then walked up to me and stared.
Me: You need some water?
He: (takes a couple steps closer to me--his confirmation)
Me: (brings a cup of water to his bowl and leans in to pour)
He: (nudges his head into the cup)
Me: Hold on, Pup. (shoos him to the side and leans back down to pour)
He: (nudges his head into the bowl, blocking me from pouring)
Me: Hold on, Pup. (shoos him to the side and leans back down to pour)
He: (nudges his head alongside the cup and starts licking every drop that makes it into the bowl)
Me: (laughing) Hold on, Pup! (shoos him, holds him back)
He: (leans his head in as much as possible, bumps the bowl, knocking out water)
Me: (laughing) Petey! Hold on! (pours the rest of the water in the bowl) OK! Go for it!
He: (frantically drinks)
Me: (laughs)
It's like he's never had water before. Ha ha!

Day 32: Life Lessons

Aha:
Question 4: List 10 things you would tell your 16-year-old self, if you could.
1. Finish college! There will be complications to finishing, but stick with cosmetology at Mt. Hood despite the fact that the teachers there stink--you'll be trained wherever you end up working.  You won't have another opportunity for quite a while.
2. You won't be able to have children when you want to.  You'll go through lots of painful moments.  Don't let other people's fertility hurt you, be happy for them and know that there will be lots of growth and happiness in your life as well.  Don't lose your faith over this.  Enjoy the childless time you and Clinton will have together.  Use the atonement early on and the whole experience will be much easier to bear.  You'll get through it and you'll be stronger for it.
3. Stop eating so much junk food.  Calories in, calories out.  Work now to become healthy and fit so you can enjoy the benefits of feeling good about your body when you're young.
4. Never stop being who you are and doing what makes you happy.  Laugh loud all the time and don't worry about what others think about it.  Hey, you're being happy, if they don't like it, they can shove it!
5. Date lots and have fun learning what you want in your future husband.  None of those boys will probably meet your expectations, but the experience will teach you that life is unpredictable.  Be bold and be sure to tell those around you how you feel.  Don't hold back.
6. You are a perfectionist but need to accept that you can't control everything.  A crooked picture doesn't have to be straightened, your body does not have to be freakishly tiny to be attractive, your eyes don't have to match to make you beautiful.  Accept that perfection is a mindset, and an unhealthy one at that.  Do your best and know that that is good enough.
7. Floss your teeth more regularly.  Cavities can form in between your teeth if you don't floss often enough.  You know how much you hate going to the dentist, so avoid this and floss regularly.
8. Be patient.  Be patient with your parents, your friends, other drivers, long lines, trials in life, and most importantly--yourself.  Life is not a race.  Enjoy the journey even when it's hard.
9. Moisturize your face every single day or you'll get wrinkles by the age of 18.  They won't go away once they're there.
10. You will marry someone who will love you even when you're moody (which will be often).  He will never give up on you and will often remind you how much your relationship means to him.  He will be the happiest and funniest person you know.  There will be times when life is hard and you'll be frustrated, learn to not sweat the small stuff and laugh together often.  Your marriage will be a partnership that will carry you through everything.  Marriage takes a lot of patience and hard work, but it will be those hard times that bring you closer than you ever thought possible.

Ha ha:
I bought a shirt for $1.97 at Old Navy the other day.  It's a cute white t-shirt with some little flower cut outs across the center of the chest.  As I was getting ready for bed, I took off my pants and was about to take off my shirt but realized I wanted to show my awesome deal to Clinton first.  I walked into the room and said "Hey, do you like my new shirt?  Isn't it cute?"
He: Yah, it goes really great with your underwear.
Oh, I laughed about that for a while.

Milwaukee Sight-Seeing Boat Tour 2012

A while back I bought a coupon on Groupon for 2 tickets on the Milwaukee Sight-Seeing Boat Tour.  Somehow, I had $10 in Groupon Bucks so it only cost me $10 for two!  Anyway, we had a great time and absolutely loved the sights.  Clinton had a chance to try out his new camera, and I had a chance to edit them and make 'em purdy.

Day 385: Worth Every Penny

Aha:
Clinton and I drove out to Cedarburg, Wisconsin on Saturday for the heck of it.  It's about 30 minutes away and it is an adorable town!  There are lots of cute little boutique-type shops to peruse and there's always some sort of outdoor event going on.  What a cute town!
We turned our trip into a scavenger hunt to put together a bird feeder for our backyard that will attract Cardinals for when my parents visit next month.  We made our purchases with success and enjoyed our time together in the meantime.  We came home, fixed supper and then veged on the couch for the rest of the night.
What a great Saturday!

Ha ha:
As I mentioned above, I love the little shops in Cedarburg.  There's this one little boutique (I think it's called Posh) that is all accessories...must-have-type accessories.  Fortunately for me, they were having a sale and I got the cutest pair of black stilettos for $10!!  Ready to be jealous??
BAM!!
I told you they were cute!

Day 364: #1 and #2

Aha:
Two great things happened to me on Saturday...
1.  Went to ALDI to get some fruit and found my favorite cheese crackers too (I've only been able to find them at Walgreens) for $.50 less than usual!  I bought two bags.
2.  I got a real, bonafide NAP--2 amazing hours!  Best part?  I fell asleep reading a novel.  There ain't nothin' like a novel nap!

Ha ha:
I must first preface this by saying that Clinton and I do not (ahem) fart in front of each other.  If one of us needs to "relieve ourselves" then, we will go into the other room or the bathroom if possible.  Some readers may be thinking, They don't fart in front of each other?  Surely they must not truly love each other if they don't feel comfortable farting in front of the other. However, we feel this is on the contrary.  Both of us think farting is gross and would rather keep that part of our unpleasantries to ourself.  With that said, we realize we both do it and if we happen to catch the other one in the act, we give them a royal teasing.  Now, onto my story.
Last night I was in the bathroom (going #1) and I left the door open.  Clinton passed by and asked what I was doing.  I told him I really had to pee.  Right as I said it, a little bit of...air...came out.  I hoped he hadn't heard it and tried to just finish my business.  A couple seconds later he comes back around the corner and with a smug look on his face says, "Had to pee, huh?  Sounds more like you need to pooh."
I couldn't help but laugh.  Ha ha!

Day 342: Feeling Pissed (Don't Worry Mom, It's a Pun)

Aha:
I recently acquired my grandma's wedding ring.  It is absolutely beautiful but when I tried it on it was a bit too big.  Long story short, I took it to Zales to get sized and the lady who "helped"me didn't know what she was talking about, tried to upsell me into buying rhodium plating (an extra $40) and mistyped the size I needed.  At first, I agreed to the extra $40 for "redipping" my ring, and then as soon as I said it I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach and said, "I change my mind.  Please just resize the ring."  Fortunately, I didn't buy the extra rhodium plating and I caught the error in ring size.
When I went to pick up my ring I noticed it was exceptionally shiny.  I asked the salesclerk (different person than "assisted" me originally) if the ring had been rhodium plated.  He said, "Yep.  It's standard procedure for all re-sized rings."
I couldn't believe it!  I would have been out 40 bucks and totally duped!  I'm so thankful I paid attention to that sinking feeling.  Now, I get to proudly wear my grandma's beautiful ring each day.  My always-giving grandma seems to still be blessing me financially, even beyond the grave.  Thanks, Grandma!

Ha ha:
It took Clinton a bit of coaxing to read scriptures on Friday night; he had to be to work really early the next day and just wanted to go to sleep.  At any rate, I got him to read, but I don't know that there was much "enlightenment" had for either of us.  Here's how it went...
He:  1 Sam 25:22
So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light aany that pisseth against the wall.
2 Kings 9:9
For the whole house of aAhab shall perish: and I will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel:
Me:  Alright.  I get it already.
He:  1 Kings 14:10
Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house ofaJeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will btake away the remnant of the house of cJeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.
I'll spare you the other 3 scriptures he shared, but I'll assume you have caught the pattern of his readings.  Needless to say, he'd chuckle after each accented "pisseth".  To be honest, I was quite surprised; Clinton can't even say "ass" when it's referring to a donkey in the scriptures.  Ha!

Day 331: Bills and Thrills

Aha:
Found out that some lab work/tests/appointments we had/have to have, that we didn't think were going to be covered by insurance (and we've been praying for help in affording), were/are covered by insurance and we'll owe next to nothing!!!  Woohoo!  Yay for visible miracles!

Ha ha:
Clinton brought the mail in from the mailbox.
Me:  What kind of garbage did we get today (all we ever get is junk mail)?
He:  (Holding an envelope up to his forehead like he's telepathically reading it)  Bills.
Me:  (Laughing)
He:  (Holds another to head forehead)  Bills.  (Another)  Bills.
Me/He:  (Laughing)

Day 276: Rinse and Repeat

Aha:
I went down to the Children's cafeteria this afternoon for a soda and took a couple bucks with me to pay for it.  Come to find out that between 2pm - 4pm the sodas are only $.90 (usually $1.50 for a 32oz)!!  What a great little surprise!  This was such a great deal, that I think I'll do it again tomorrow!

Ha ha:
Last night I noticed our dishwasher had not washed the last load very well, so after loading it with dinner dishes I asked Clinton to turn it on before he headed up to bed.  As I was brushing my teeth I heard him turn on the washer.
This morning, I got up and opened the dishwasher to get some clean dishes for breakfast.  As soon as I opened it I noticed that several dishes were still almost as dirty as when I'd put them in but others appeared to be clean.  So, I grabbed what looked clean, rinsed 'em off in the sink and used them for my breakfast.
When Clinton came downstairs I told him that the dishwasher still wasn't working and that we shouldn't use it anymore.
He:  It wasn't run last night.
Me:  What do you mean?  I heard you turn it on last night.
He:  I set it on a rinse cycle.
Me:  When were you planning on telling me this?  I used several of those dishes this morning!
He:  (laughing) How was I supposed to know you were going to use dishes this morning?
Me:  Of course I was going to use them this morning, that's why I asked you to WASH them last night.
He:  So, you're saying you ate off of dirty dishes this morning?
Me:  I guess so.

Day 247: Ring Me Up

Aha:
I had to run to the beauty supply store and get some much-needed supplies.  Anyway, long story short, I had a $5 off coupon and there were several extra sales in the store so I got all of this...
(reusable gloves, 2 colors, 1 developer, and three styling combs--one of which is heat resistant and usually quite expensive)

 For only this much!!
Love it!!

Ha ha:
Bought a necklace very similar to this (but mine is bronze with a salmon-pink birdie)
at Francesca's this weekend.  I fell in LOVE with it and was very excited to wear it.  I didn't realize though that the little bird makes a ringing sound (similar to jingling bells) when ever I move, walk, or turn my head.  Needless to say that although I felt adorable in my new bling, I felt like a cow with a bell around it's neck.
I heard the following comments today:
"What, is that Santa Claus I hear?"
"Who's ringing jingle bells?"
and
"Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way!"
I think I'm still gonna wear it though.  It's just too cute!
