Day 101: Rise and Whine

Aha:
I had to have some lab work done today as a walk-in. The clinic opened at 7am and was about 10 minutes from my house. I woke up at 6am and was out the door by 630am. Clinton asked why I was leaving so early and I told him I didn't want to have to wait in line all day. Good thing I left early!
When I got there one gentleman was already in line (that made me #2). Right after I got in line another man came. Within 10 minutes there were about 10 people in line, and by 7am that number about doubled.
When I finished my labs 40 minutes later, I came into the waiting room and it was absolutely PACKED!
It stunk a little to get up so early on a Saturday, but getting in-and-out was totally worth it! Plus, I had a great two-hour nap this afternoon, so it's all good. :)

Haha:
I think (wink, wink) I've mentioned this before, but our landlords do anything but "own" their property. We still have maintenance issues that have yet to be addressed and the things that have been were done very shoddily. We continue to find problems on a regular basis--take today for example.
Clinton went out to get the electric mower to mow our yard. He was outside for a while but I didn't hear the mower. He came back in and grabbed his tools. Again, he was outside for quite some time but I never heard the mower. When he came back in I followed up.
Me: Lemme guess, it's broken?
He: Well, it's starting to work, I think...but yes, it's broken.
Me: Big shocker.
Well, he went back outside to work on it some more and I joined him. First of all, the thing was held together by duct-tape and a couple of the cables were burnt to a crisp and the motor had corrosion on it as well. I asked him if this was going to be fixable and he wasn't sure. He tried a few things and nothing seemed to be working. Finally when he thought it might work, he carefully plugged the mower in.
Drum roll, please....insert random ticking sound...and black smoke from the motor! Ha!
He: Uh, yah, I don't think this thing is going to work.
Me: I don't think so.
LOL, oh man, this rental is a joke!

Day 87: Hymns and Has

Aha:
Clinton set up my piano for me the other day and I got to sit down and play for quite a while today. It felt so good! I was practicing hymns and doing so always makes me feel uplifted. Later, while I was cleaning the bathroom, I caught myself singing the words. I love the hymns. Their words are scripture to me and I'm grateful I have them to refer to for comfort and direction.

Haha:
What happens on a Saturday when four inches of snow falls overnight and keeps falling all day, and your husband is at work? About a five-hour marathon of Lost, that's what.
I think my butt has become a completely flat surface from all the sitting. But hey, I'm really making progress on episodes. Ha!

Day 83: I Got a New Job and it Makes Me Laugh

Aha:
This will be news to most of you that I even needed one in the first place, but I have a new job! It's with a different company doing office administration. I don't know all of the specifics yet but I really liked the people I interviewed with and my job duties are more along the lines of what I like to do. I start on Monday and, to boot, the pay is better as well!
The only crappy thing about it is that now it'll be a while till I can get back home to visit my family. Hopefully they'll be lenient and allow me time off this summer but being the newbie I don't want to be asking for a lot of favors. That being said, friends and family are more than welcome to come see me! At any rate, it's not a forever. I just have to remind myself of that.
I am very thankful for this job and I look forward to loving what I do again!

Haha:
I must be a pretty hot commodity.
I interviewed for this new job yesterday. During my interview I was told they'd be interviewing through the rest of the week. If I hadn't heard from them by Friday, to give them a call.
When I got home from my interview I opened up my email to send them a "thank you" and instead found an email from them telling me I was a top candidate and that I should hear from them more formally by Wednesday.
This morning I got a call from them, offering me the job.
When I texted Clinton to tell him, I just kept laughing to myself. It's crazy how it all happened so fast and it just makes me chuckle to know that people want me that much. Kinda makes me feel special. And I don't know why, but it makes me laugh.

Day 60: I'm Grateful for General Conference Weekend and Shampoo

Aha:
"Choose to be grateful no matter what." My favorite take-home quote from General Conference and surprise, surprise it was said by President Uchtdorf. I swear, that man could inspire me any day.
He spoke about the difference of being grateful for our blessings and being grateful even when things aren't going the way we hoped they would be. He referenced Job from the Old Testament who, even when everything he had was taken from him, praised God and thanked him for his life. He said that a true "Attitude of Gratitude" is faith and trust in God. Faith and trust that He knows and loves us and will bless us with those things we need (be they trials or asked-for blessings). Choosing to be grateful no matter what opens our minds and hearts to peace and understanding.
I loved this quick little quote because it is pertinent. There is much in my life to be grateful for and there have been many trials in my life that, looking back, I can see as a blessing though I certainly didn't see them as such at the time.
"Choose to be grateful no matter what."
I think this will be my new mantra.

Haha:
You know you need to wash your hair when...
You slide your sunglasses off the top of your head and the lenses are all greasy. Ehh. :/
In my defense, it's General Conference weekend and I knew I didn't have to go anywhere so I gave my face the day off and my hair the whole weekend off. Don't worry, I'll wash it tonight.

Day 46: Gave Me the Chills

Aha:
A guy gave a talk in church today and the topic was kind of about his conversion to the church. He said it took many years for him to decide to be baptized and that decision came after much thought and prayer until one day it hit him that it was true for him.
His talk was fairly interesting but at the very end he mentioned a scripture about Moses and his inadequacies in speaking. The Lord had called Moses to be His mouthpiece but Moses was afraid because he struggled with speech.
At this point the speaker interjected his own thought that those whom The Lord calls to act He lifts up and qualifies.
This made me think.
I start a new job tomorrow and I've really been struggling to be happy about it. I don't mean to sound like a whiner, but there's a lot going on in our lives, I live far from any family, and I've had a lot of time to be used to being home and available to do whatever whenever. Now the reality that I'll be working full time has hit me and it makes me sad to know I can't just pick up and go for the next while. But when the speaker mentioned that to those whom The Lord calls he qualifies, I felt comforted.
I realize I am being blessed with work and a chance to save a lot of money. I realize that The Lord is giving me a chance to bless my family. And I realize that since I am being called to this responsibility at this time, The Lord will help me through it.

Haha:
I made chili for supper tonight. I called Clinton in and told him it was ready.
He: It can't be ready yet, it's not cooked long enough. It's doesn't even feel warm (holding his hand over the pot)
Me: Trust me, it's fine. It's been boiling; I just turned the temp down. I have been having to blow on it before I can taste it, it's hot trust me.
He: (turning the heat back up) No, I don't want to eat raw beef.
Me: Trust me, it's fine.
He: Let it simmer for a bit.
About two minutes pass.
He: Ok, let's eat.
We sit down to eat.
I notice my bowl is really hot and knowing it's been boiling for a while, I really blow on my food before taking a bite.
He: (taking a bite without blowing on it) Ahhh! (spits out his food and looks over at me with a coy look on his face)
Me: So, it's warm enough then?
He: No need to rub it in.
Me: (laughing)

Day 31: The Alien's Landed...in Saliva

Aha:
In case you missed it earlier on FaceBook...say hello to Canada's newest permanent resident!
After eight months of waiting and a three-hour drive down to the border, I am officially landed as a permanent resident of Canada! I can't believe this day has finally arrived! I would be remiss to not thank God for all of the divine help and guidance we have received through this whole process.
Clinton and I were commenting during the drive home how perfect much of the timing has been--
1. Cheap/free rent that just happened to end near the time I was able to work.
2. That whole debacle with my visitor record and the many miracles surrounding its timely approval
3. My first friend I made in Calgary is also going through this same process and has been a great sounding board and buddy through it all.
4. There were two officers at the border today and we got the nice one. She was really nice and even let us ahead in line and so we got through very fast!
5. We found out last week that Clinton will be doing a rural rotation in Cardston, Alberta next winter. What town did we drive through today to get to the border? You guessed it! So, we stopped for a photo opp at the Cardston LDS Temple.
Very pretty, and very OLD temple (ca. 1920)

The drive was pretty boring and stinky in parts. Here's a pic of Clinton and I breathing through our mouths in a desperate attempt to avoid smelling the nearby livestock farms.
The day was great all around. What a great day to become a permanent resident! :)

Haha:
Clinton and I went to supper at Extreme Pita. While we were eating, Clinton looked up and past my shoulder and started laughing. I asked what was so funny and he said, pointing to an advertisement behind me, "Doesn't that slogan seem like a bad idea?"
He: Just take the "t-i-o-n" off the first word and you've got a pretty gross confession.
Me: (laughing)

Day 21: Jack and Jill Went Up the Hill to Fetch a Pail...of Honesty

Aha:
I had one of those sad parenting moments today that really make your heart sad and glad at the same time.
Long story short, I caught one of the kids lying to me over something not so minor.
I knew they were lying and it was breaking my heart that they didn't feel like they could tell me the truth.
Finally, after about an hour and a half, the truth finally came out.
I took them aside and told them that of all things, being lied to was my least favorite. That lying makes me sad because it seems I can't be trusted by them.
I gave them a big hug (in which they lingered), thanked them for admitting the truth, and told them that I wanted them to be good and make good choices. I wanted them to know they can talk to me about anything and that above all, I loved them.
Consequences were divvied out and I turned to leave. The moment I did I totally got choked up.
These kids aren't even mine but this little situation really made me think a lot about what things must be like for those who do have kids, and what it'll be like when I have my own. This poor kid went to great lengths to avoid telling the truth and when it finally came out I didn't get mad, I really truly just wanted them to succeed in being honest. I felt so much love for them it hurt! And that lingering hug was the best kind of heart-warmer ever!
Is this what it's always like? Is this what it's like for God and His children here on Earth? How much forgiveness and love He must have for you and me!! He will patiently wait for us to admit our error and when we do He will be there to love us even more, not less.

Haha:
Before bed the kids and I were sitting in the living room reading nursery rhymes and after each one Eden would promptly reply with his own funny version of that rhyme.
We were having a great time!
One of the rhymes spoke of two little children who had some sort of cafuffle and ended up getting hurt or something. Eden's rendition included something about the kids suing each other and how someone came out loaded from their lawsuit.
We all laughed and then Sam said, "Eden, these kids are like three years old. If they're suing this young they must be from the states! They're pretty fast to sue over really dumb things in America."
Oh, how I laughed at that cause it's so true!

Day 21: Holy Places

Aha:
Had the chance to go to the temple with my 81-year-young friend, Marji.  It's a 90-minute drive so we had lots of time to chat.
Firstly, the temple was a nice and peaceful experience.  This was Marji's 3rd time going, so it was especially nice to go with someone who is so very excited to be there.  I loved being there.
Secondly, I really enjoyed visiting with her.  She is extremely outspoken and is always making me laugh, but this time our conversations were more spiritual in nature.  I really felt like I was talking with an old friend (no pun intended).  Thank you Marji for sharing your words of wisdom.
Here is one of my favorite quotes from her as we traveled back home:

  • Why you gotta be spending your time worrying about stuff?  Don't you know that's God's job?  Let go and just trust that He knows what's best.  He ain't gonna let you fall when you's doing what's right.

Ha ha:
Marji and I stopped for lunch at this restaurant I've passed every time I go to the temple, but have never been able to go to: The Point Pancake House.  Lemme tell you, I'm sure the other patrons began to feel a little nervous with how much Mmm-mmm-ing and moaning was coming from our table.  The food was fantastic (yes, I ordered pancakes with a side of peanut butter)!  I'll definitely be stopping there every temple trip from now on!

Day 17: We Can Do Hard Things

Aha:
I liked this and thought I'd share.  It's from The Friend magazine, May 2012.

Ha ha:
There's a maintenance guy at work that is not only creepy, but he's also a fair bit dopey.  Tuesday he came into the kitchen while I was in the middle of washing a dish (aka, I couldn't just high-tail it outta there).  He said "hello" and so did I.
He:  I'm just getting a couple'a sodas.
Me:  Go right ahead.
He:  (puts his money in, pushes the button, turns to me and starts talking small talk)
Me:  (replies, watches him not take out the first soda and push the button for his second soda--realizing it's going to jam)
He:  (reaches in to get his sodas)  Uh-oh.
Me:  Are they stuck?
He:  Yep.   I guess I shouldn't'a did that.  (he then proceeds to stick his arm entirely into the machine and digs around in there as if he were birthing a calf--surprisingly he gets them out)
Me:  At least you've got a refreshing drink to enjoy after all your hard work!

Day 8: If the Savior Stood Beside Me, Would I Eat the Things I Do?

Aha:
I don't know about you, but I really enjoyed the music from General Conference (although that youth choir was a bit pitchy--sorry readers if you know someone from that choir!).  I especially liked the pieces derived from Primary songs.  Here are a couple of my favorites.  Pay close attention to the words, they are lovely!

I Will Follow God's Plan for Me
If the Savior Stood Beside Me

Ha ha:
I decided last week that it's time for me to eat a little better and exercise more cause my clothes are starting to not fit quite right.  So, I started it off by enjoying some Conference Crepes (with butter syrup) for breakfast, Canadian Thanksgiving for dinner and a couple bowls of life cereal for dessert (in addition to a slice of pumpkin pie).
Now you know why I'm going "on a diet".

Day 7: Feeling Re-Freshed (Sung to the Subway Jingle)

Aha:
I tell ya, I love President Uchtdorf!  He seems to write his talks specifically for me.  His talk hasn't yet been printed online, so this is from watching and pausing the video online, but as soon as it's published I'll get more of these wonderfully uplifting spiritual nuggets put on my blog.  Here is quick quote from yesterday's talk titled "Of Regrets and Resolutions".

"Another regret of those who knew they were dying: they wished they had let themselves been happier.  So often we get caught up in the illusion that there is something just beyond our reach that would bring us happiness.  A better family situation.  A better financial situation.  Or the end of a challenging trial.  The older we get the more we look back and realize that external circumstances don't really matter or determine our happiness--WE do matter.  WE do determine our own happiness.  You and I are ultimately in charge of our happiness."

Ha ha:
Clinton and I stopped at Subway for dinner last night and ran into our friends, Matt & Kim.  We walked up to them and said hello.  Kim turned to us and said, "I was just saying to Matt, 'I wonder if we'll see the Logans here tonight'.  And look, here you are!"
Yah, we're that much of regulars.

Day 1: Serving Up More of the Stuff You Love

Aha:
A couple weeks ago in church, the Sunday school lesson brought up the topic of journal writing.  How it's so important that we keep a record of our lives so that we can look back at our blessings and so that our children will have a better understanding of who we are/were.  This got me thinking that I really needed to start writing again.  So, here goes Round 2 of writing a little something each day.

Ha ha:
I will preface this story by saying that this idea is ours and if anyone tries to steal it, we will come after you and sue.  Now, with that said, enjoy!
I was making toast this morning and Clinton came into the kitchen...
He:  What'cha makin'?
Me:  Toast.
He:  Toast, huh?  Wouldn't it be great to open a restaurant that was just about toast?  You could have any option for toppings, any sort of bread, different butters, etc. and people could make any kind of toast they'd ever want!
Me:  Uh, sure.  What would you call the restaurant?
He:  (without skipping a beat)  "I'd Like to Make a Toast"
I have been laughing about it all day.  He is just too funny!

I Think I've Reached My Limit

Alright.  It's been a little over a week since last I wrote; I've simply not felt like it.  I kept telling myself that I'd catch up, but I don't think I'm gonna.  So, instead of going into hiding and never blogging again, I'm going to blog perhaps a little less frequently.
Sunday, July 22nd, I subbed in the 4-5 year-old primary class at church.  The group was just girls and they were adorable.  In our ward, the entire primary meets for Sharing/Singing Time and then uses the last 40 minutes or so for class.  Well, I got to Sharing Time a little late, found my class and sat down.  One of the little girls turned to me and whispered, "Um, Teacher?  Did you plan a good lesson for us today?"
Me:  Yes.
She:  Oh, well, um I'm not going to be able to stay for class cause my mom's leaving early, but maybe can you send me some notes or perhaps something from the lesson I could color?
Me:  Uh, we'll see.
Inside I was laughing so hard.  How adorable is that?
Also at church that day, one of the many pioneer hymns during Sacrament Meeting was, "Come, Come Ye Saints".  (It took me till July 24th before I realized all of the hymns from Sacrament were for Pioneer Day in Utah.)  Anyway, I particularly liked the 2nd verse; it seemed the encouragement I needed.  Why should we think to earn a great reward if we now shun the fight?

Come, come, ye saints, no toil nor labor fear;
But with joy wend your way.
Though hard to you this journey may appear,
Grace shall be as your day.
Tis better far for us to strive
Our useless cares from us to drive;
Do this, and joy your hearts will swell -
All is well! All is well!
Why should we mourn or think our lot is hard?
'Tis not so; all is right.
Why should we think to earn a great reward
If we now shun the fight?
Gird up your loins; fresh courage take.
Our God will never us forsake;
And soon we'll have this tale to tell-
All is well! All is well!
We'll find the place which God for us prepared,
Far away, in the West,
Where none shall come to hurt or make afraid;
There the saints, will be blessed.
We'll make the air, with music ring,
Shout praises to our God and King;
Above the rest these words we'll tell -
All is well! All is well!
And should we die before our journey's through,
Happy day! All is well!
We then are free from toil and sorrow, too;
With the just we shall dwell!
But if our lives are spared again
To see the Saints their rest obtain,
Oh, how we'll make this chorus swell-
All is well! All is well!

Day 389: Perfectly Timed That One

Aha:
I was waiting for a phone call this morning and knew I'd need to step out when it came.  Due to some recent weirdness in our office, I was a little weary about if I'd be able to take it or not.  Right as I was getting up to run a quick errand, I happened to grab my phone.  The second I walked out of the door, my phone rang with the call I was waiting for.  I was able to answer it with no reservations and I'm so thankful for that little miracle in my day!

Ha ha:
I passed by one of our Information Services people in the hallway at work.  I waved at her and she said, "Hey-oh!"
I don't know what possessed me, but I apparently was in a teasing-mood and responded with, "Wha'did you call me?"
She:  Nothing.
Me:  Did you call me a ho?
She:  What?!  No!  No!  I said, "hey-oh".
Me:  I know. (laughter) I'm just teasing you.  Have a good afternoon!
Oh, it's nice to be around happy people at work!

Day 379: Seeking the Greatest Rewards

Aha:
I picked up my copy of "Daughters in My Kingdom" the other day and was really inspired by the following quote by Belle S. Spafford, ninth Relief Society general president:
“The average woman today, I believe, would do well to appraise her interests, evaluate the activities in which she is engaged, and then take steps to simplify her life, putting things of first importance first, placing emphasis where the rewards will be greatest and most enduring, and ridding herself of the less rewarding activities.” 3
I feel like this is exactly what I need to do in my life right now: re-evaluate my priorities, cut out the excess, increase the important and enjoy the journey.  What a lovely way of putting it (and a great reminder too). :)

Ha ha:
I thought this was one of the cutest things I've seen in a while and had to share...enjoy!
Makes me laugh every time, partly because this looks so much like my parents' dog and he's just as smiley. :)

Day 365: Just Picture It, One Year and Counting

Aha:
Ok, it's official: This is my 365th aha/ha ha posting!! I can't believe that I've made it, I've posted a blessing and something humorous every single day for the last year! Whoa!! I was reminiscing with Clinton the other day about how this day was soon approaching and it hit me...I now have a complete year's worth of memories and happenings from our lives. What a great treasure!
We have been so blessed this last year! I am so grateful for all of "reminders" from the Lord to record bits and pieces from each day. There were many times when I couldn't think of anything to write on a particular day, but when I'd begin to write something would come to mind.
I also feel like my ability to laugh at life has increased. I think that if I weren't looking for something funny to record every day, I could have very easily become upset or irritated by those things instead of just seeing them as funny. Recording the events of our lives has been a blessing this last year and I hope to continue for a long time to come!

 Ha ha:
Clinton was doodling during Sacrament meeting on Sunday so I asked him to draw a picture of me.
I asked him why my eyes were crossed and he said, "Cause you're crazy." So, I decided it was my turn to draw one of him.
He didn't think it was that funny, but I did. :)

Day 354: Clinton in Action

Aha:
Right as I was leaving work yesterday I got a call from Clinton.  Turns out he was on the floor below me and called to meet up (commence "aww"ing).  Anyway, we made a quick run for dinner cause he was going to be at the school all night studying.
On our way back from the restaurant (if that's what you'd call Taco Bell), we came across an accident involving a downed-scooterist and an SUV.
It all happened so fast, Clinton parked the car in the middle of the road, jumped out and ran right over to the victim.  I pulled out my phone and called 9-1-1 and then got out to redirect traffic.  It turns out that the scooterist ran into the back of the SUV and will be OK, but he was still hurt.  Clinton was there by the victim's side the whole time, making sure he kept his helmet on to avoid any potential head/neck injuries and helping him stay still/calm while he made sure he was OK.
I had my back to it all while I was redirecting traffic, but each time I turned around to see how everything was going, I couldn't help but be filled with so much gratitude and pride for my sweetheart.  He was so calm and unafraid (at least he appeared to be on the outside), and I caught a little glimpse of what he'll be like when he's as an actual doctor: caring, genuine, determined, gentle, calming and oh-so smart.  Though the whole situation was so surreal, I couldn't help but feel gratitude.  This poor man was surrounded by caring/skilled professionals, the accident took place just off of the medical campus so help arrived swiftly, I was able to help keep everyone safe from traffic and Clinton got to do what he loves best...help people feel better.

Ha ha:
During times of stress (typically around exam time) Clinton has night terrors.  I kid you not, my mom asked me last week when Clinton's next exam was to see if he'd had his night terror yet.  I had told her that his exam was a couple weeks off so it could be any day.  Well, it's happened.
When I came home from work today he asked if I noticed him jump out of bed last night.  I told him that all seemed familiar cause I barely slept as it was, but needed him to recap.  He said that he opened his eyes and noticed a giant "stick-like" bug crawling up his chest.  He flung his arms out to "get it off of him" and then jumped to the end of the bed to look down at "it" on the floor.  He noticed his bag across the room and swore it was the bug so he leapt off the bed and ran out of the room.
At this point in his story, I stopped him and thanked him for leaving me alone in the room with "the bug" to fend for myself.
Anyway, he said when he got into the bathroom and flipped on the light he suddenly woke up and realized he had been hallucinating.  He finished by saying that even though he knew it had all been a dream, it was still pretty creepy to crawl back into bed.
Oh my.  I think in our almost-nine-years of marriage, Clinton's probably had about 20 of these terrors.  Looking forward to the rest of forever, Dear. :)

Day 349: Run Away

Aha:
I have decided to take up running again.  Who knows how long I'll keep it up, but I thought, If I'm gonna do this right, I should talk with someone who really knows their stuff.  So, naturally I decided to call my brother who is an amazing athlete (at least a twice-over triathlete and has done 4 marathons).  Anyway, I gave him a call and we chatted for a little while.  He gave me some tips to try and a website or two to look at for further direction.  It wasn't a long phone call by any means, but it was really nice to just visit with him for a bit.  He said if I do the Chicago marathon before we move that he'll come out and run it with me. :)  I'll do my best Derek!

Ha ha:
Clinton and I drove by a building that reminded us of some people we used to know who--shall we say--were known for being less than entertaining.  Clinton sarcastically said, "Oh, don't you remember so-and-so?  Being with them was always such a gas!"
It seemed to me that he hadn't quite finished his thought so I quickly replied, "Chamber."

Day 346: Life's Important Questions

Aha:
I was listening to General Conference while I was out walking Peter tonight.  I came across one of the talks given by our prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, titled "The Race of Life".  He discussed the importance of focusing on the questions:  "Who am I?", "Why am I here?" and "Where am I going?".  Here is a small excerpt that made me think to appreciate the more important things in life.

"Everywhere people are in a hurry. Jet-powered aircraft speed their precious human cargo across broad continents and vast oceans so that business meetings might be attended, obligations met, vacations enjoyed, or families visited. Roadways everywhere—including freeways, thruways, and motorways—carry millions of automobiles, occupied by more millions of people, in a seemingly endless stream and for a multitude of reasons as we rush about the business of each day.

In this fast-paced life, do we ever pause for moments of meditation—even thoughts of timeless truths?

When compared to eternal verities, most of the questions and concerns of daily living are really rather trivial. What should we have for dinner? What color should we paint the living room? Should we sign Johnny up for soccer? These questions and countless others like them lose their significance when times of crisis arise, when loved ones are hurt or injured, when sickness enters the house of good health, when life’s candle dims and darkness threatens. Our thoughts become focused, and we are easily able to determine what is really important and what is merely trivial.

Such moments of clarity come to all of us at one time or another, although not always through so dramatic a circumstance. We see clearly what it is that really matters in our lives and how we should be living.
Said the Savior:
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Ha ha:
Is it bad that I only exercise so I can have more dessert?

Day 344: Antagonyms (look it up)

Aha:
I had the opportunity to fast on Sunday...something I did really well last year, but have struggled to do this year.  Anyway, I have been praying and fasting for some answers to my prayers and although I don't know that I have the answers I seek, one of my friends got up to bear her testimony in Relief Society and said something that really touched me.  She said that she was privileged to be able to fast again (hasn't been able to due to health complications) and she has felt such peace knowing that the answers to her prayers would come because of the power of fasting.
She didn't say that all of her answers flowed through her right as she started her fast, but that they would eventually come nonetheless.  I guess I just needed a reminder to be patient and trust that things will all make sense down the line.

Ha ha:
As I was driving Clinton to his EARLY morning call on Saturday it made me feel like going on a road trip.  The sun was just rising and the roads were pretty empty - creating a "road-trip" feel in the air.
Me:  Oh, doesn't driving this early just make you want to go on a road trip?
He:  No.  It makes me want to go back home and go to bed.
Well, we can't agree on everything, right? :)
